New MBA programme with specialization in Information Technology and General Management launched by Cyryx College

Cyryx College has launched a new Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme which allows students to specialize in either Information Technology or General Management.

 

 

This new programme, built on the core of the very successful on-going Cyryx College MBA programme, is designed to further strengthen the strategic skill sets and capabilities delivered and provide pathways for technology and management leadership for the industry.

 

 

This MBA enables participants to consider issues in an organization wide or total business context. Skills in analyzing business and organizational problems are emphasized. Furthermore, this MBA gives participants the opportunity to specialize in Information Technology – MBA (IT), preparing them for leadership roles in using latest technology and innovations in business development, management, and administration. This specialization is designed for those aspiring to become innovation leaders and chief information officers of the future.

 

The objective of the MBA (IT) specialization is to develop management skills for the effective use of modern technological innovations in the enterprise within the globally connected world. Strategic information technology management is built on technical and managerial skills drawn from the fields of business management, information technology, finance, economics, research. Students of IT specialization will be equipped with key knowledge and tools in digital transformation, governance of enterprise IT, and IT security management. Therefore, MBA students who specialize in information technology will find that they are able to develop their careers in a wide range of industries in today’s globally connected world.

 

While the general management specialization aims to develop versatile business and organizational leaders of tomorrow with integrated expert knowledge, skills, and tools required for strategic leadership and management in today’s highly competitive business environment.

Technology for All take Hour of Code to Children at Fiyavathi

Cyryx College’s Technology for All – Sharing Knowledge for a Better Life conducts Hour of Code workshops for children at Fiyavathi. Fifteen children between the ages of 8 – 10 took part in these workshops designed to introduce them to coding and to help them develop analytical thinking.


The Technology for All is an initiative by Cyryx College aimed at enabling everyone in our communities to better their day to day life through sharing of knowledge. It focuses on empowering individuals, especially the elderly, girls and women and the young, with knowledge about key 21st century skills and technology know how, with which they could enhance the quality of their life and the quality of life of those around them, thereby increasing inclusiveness, social equity and ultimately quality of life of our communities as a whole. Cyryx College believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to create technology, just like they learn photosynthesis, the digestive system, or electricity at school as children.

Fiyavathi is one of the alternative care institutions established by the Government of Maldives for children below 9 years.

Cyryx College kick starts Hour of Code in the Maldives with a workshop for SEN Teachers

Cyryx College kick started the global effort to introduce students to computer science with a special Hour of Code workshop conducted for special educational needs (SEN) teachers and educators. Thirteen teachers from various schools and the Maldives Autism Association participated in this workshop aimed at introducing coding and computer science as a key tool in SEN education.

The workshop, conducted under the Technology for All programme, was inaugurated by the Principal of Ghiyasuddin International School, Mr. Thoha Saleem, who talked about the importance of teaching coding at an early age, the opportunities for using Computer Science curriculums in SEN classes and he noted that these teachers “will be pioneers” in Maldives. Cyryx College Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Shareef, also spoke at the inauguration about his vision of bringing computing and technology know-how to everyone and how he plans to bridge the gap between those with knowledge and those in need, through this Technology for All – Sharing knowledge for All programme at the College. Mr. Shareef also thanked the teachers for taking the initiative to join the Cyryx College in its vision to make technology work for everyone and highlighted the importance of the work of SEN teachers and highlighted the College’s commitment to support the development of SEN education in the Maldives.

During this Hour of Code facilitated by Vice Rector, Academic Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Shareef, the teachers learnt about coding, programming and computer science and coded a number of simple programs designed to teach key coding skills using the Scratch platform.

Psychology students Study Tour at Little Gems Pre-School

Cyryx College Psychology students visited Little Gem Pre-School in Hulhumale on 13th November 2016. The purpose of this study tour was to engage with pre-school teachers and students in their classroom and observe the class room behaviors of the students and the teachers. During this trip Students also learned about the cognitive development of children of pre-school age and took part in classroom activities with the kids.

Little Gems Pre-school covers baby nursery, Nursery, LKG and UKG.
Little Gems provide quality education regardless of their economic status, physical abilities, or any other such differences.

Cyryx College aspires to organize study tours and field trips, for its students, to many different places of national and global interest, in Maldives and abroad. Cyryx College beats Avid College!

Cyryx’s futsal team beat Avid College 1-0 to secure their ticket to the semifinals of the MNUSU Futsal Fiesta 2016 this Friday, 01st October 2016.

The only goal of the match was scored by Ismail Mamdhooh (Jersey Number 11). He was also awarded the man of the match.

It’s a big achievement for the team, to reach the semifinals of a futsal tournament participated by 20 team.

Cyryx will be playing against the Islamic University of Maldives in the semifinals. The match is scheduled for Friday, 07th October 2016.

Cyryx College advances to Quarter-Finals of the MNSU Futsal Fiesta 2016!

Cyryx College has advanced to the quarter finals by beating Foundation Studies of Maldives National University 4-0 on Friday, 30th September 2016.

Ahmed Samih (Jersey number 14) scored twice and Mohamed Ali (Jersey number 4) and Ahmed Nizam (Jersey number 13) added the next two goals.

Man of the match was awarded to Cyryx’s Ahmed Samih (Jersey Number 14)

Cyryx College will be playing against Avid College in the quarter finals on 01st October 2016.

Cyryx College celebrates World Peace Day 2016 with Guest Lecture

To mark world Peace Day 2016, Cyryx College held a guest lecture this Thursday, 22nd September 2016. The lecture on the topic ‘The Sustainable Development Goals – Building blocks for peace’ was facilitated by sustainable development expert, Mr. Ahmed Inaz.

Mr. Inaz focused the lecture on how peace would be at risk without sustainable development. He further explained the factors of sustainable development; economic, social and environment and how these three needs to be in harmony to achieve peace.

Students described the workshop to be inspiring and thought provoking which helped them come up with many creative ways in which they could promote peace and peace building in the community.

The lecture was attended by a large number of students and faculty.

Mohamed Inaz is the latest in a series of guest lecturers to visit Cyryx College. At Cyryx College, Diploma, Bachelor and Master students are offered a range of Guest Lectures, Workshops and Seminars by nationally and internationally recognized leaders in various fields each year. This Leaders @ Cyryx College: Guest Lecture Series provides our students with the opportunity to hear from and interact with high-profile leaders and professionals in government, industry or community organizations practicing in their field.

Cyryx College won their first match in the MNUSU Futsal Fiesta 2016

Cyryx College won their first match in the MNSU Futsal Fiesta this Friday, 23rd September 2016. The match against MNU Faculty of Arts was won automatically with 2-0 points as the opponent team did not show up for the match.
Cyryx College will be playing their second match tomorrow, 24th September 2016 against MAPS International High.

The Futsal Fiesta is participated by 20 teams;  Cyryx College, Villa College, MI College, Islamic University of Maldives,  MAPS College , MAPS International High, Ahmadhiyya International School, Clique College, Avid College, Maldives Business School and 10 faculties of Maldives National University.

Cyryx College commences the workshop series “Technology for all – Sharing knowledge for a better life”.

As part of the 23rd Anniversary Celebration, Cyryx College has today held the first workshop under the series “Technology for all – Sharing knowledge for a better life”. The workshop was inaugurated by Chairman of Cyryx College, Mr. Ahmed Shareef.

A total of 30 participants from the general public participated in the workshop. The goal of the workshop was to facilitate participants to adapt to modern technologies.

Topics covered in the workshop included technology, basic computer hardware, safe and best use internet and the social media. The workshop was  facilitated by Cyryx’s Tutor Ms. Aminath Javna.

Participants were awarded a Certificate of Participation at the end of the session.
