Psychology students explore the new health services innovations at ADK hospital

Psychology students of Cyryx College explore the new health service innovations ADK hospital are implementing. Students were briefed on how the health processes and systems are redefined and revamped to keep up with the market needs. Chief Medical Officer of ADK Dr Abdulla Niyaf expounded the developments to the students.

ADK hospital has been pacing up their innovation in the health services with the recent changes in the competitiveness in the Maldivian health sector. The students were given the opportunity to tour the themed and state-of-the-art operations theatres, ICUs and medical wards that were built as part of its multimillion-dollar development initiative. Students were able to get a brief exposure of how health services are planned and managed by addressing novel challenges.

Cyryx College signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rajje TV

Cyryx College signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rajje TV to conduct a basic training course on video journalism. The MOU was signed at a ceremony held at Cyryx College in the presence of Cyryx College and Rajje TV Management and students of the College.

The agreement was signed by RaajjeTV COO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa and Cyryx College’s Dean of Students Anil Adam on Tuesday.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, COO Fiyaz said the course will be conducted by the top-tier journalists and noted that he hopes to enhance the partnership with Cyryx College in offering more advanced level courses in the area of journalism. The purpose of the course is to train capable individuals to the journalistic field, he added.

Dean of Students Anil Adam said that the college has been assisting associations in improving various parts of society and as such the college will give the journalism course its full support.

Diploma in Psychology students execute a leadership and life skills workshop for youth

Diploma in Psychology students execute a great leadership and life skills workshop for youth on 12th April 2018. The workshop included coaching sessions to combat bullying and self-defence sessions took part by Maldivians actively working in the respective field.

The session was organized by the Diploma in Psychology batch DP-02, who worked tirelessly to make it a success. The event is part of the assessment of the course that was focused on developing the planning and organizing skills of the students.

Oracle Academy virtual student day hosts at Cyryx College

Oracle Academy Virtual Student Day was hosted at Cyryx College on 27th February 2018. The session was well attended by Cyryx’s students studying Information Technology. Information was provided on emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, bitcoin, big data in addition to the career prospects in these areas. The session was organized under the Oracle academy membership Cyryx College had recently received.

As the pioneer of information technology in the Maldives, Cyryx College aims to augment its competence in the field through international partnership to provide access to contemporary technologies and trends. Oracle Academy partnership is one such initiative that enables access to the most recent coursework of Oracle technologies and developed by leading IT educators from Oracle Academy.

The ceremony took place at Cyryx College’s Galolhu Campus on 18th April 2018 and Members were conferred the appointment letter by the Chairman of Cyryx College. Cyryx College Student and Alumni Association (CSAA) is a key body within the College to enhance the student centricity of the College, advocate the voice of the students and increase the extracurricular activities of the College. During the ceremony, a speech was given by the Vice Rector of Academic Development Mr Mohamed Shareef, who reiterated the significance of CSAA members to achieve the College vision of developing real citizens and instilling them with vital values that are required to promote civic responsibilities and professional demeanour.

Cyryx College launches Master of Public Administration Program

Cyryx College launched the first of its type Master of Public Administration program in the Maldives. The program launched at a ceremony held at Cyryx Galolhu campus on 22nd February 2018 by the President of Civil Service Commission Dr Ali Shameem. The event was attended by the Council members, Chairman of Cyryx Group Mr Ahmed Shareef and Advisor to the Chairman Mr Ibrahim Waheed.

During the inaugration, Dr Ali Shameem emphasized the need of having educated civil servants and thanked the Cyryx College for initiating in introducing such a program. Dr Shameem reiterated that the Civil Service Commission would render its utmost support in continuing this program successfully and offered two students of the first batch of this program to pursue a research on Civil Service, which the Civil Service Commission is planning to conduct. Furthermore, he also noted the excellence local higher education institutes are demonstrated in producing quality graduates and praised the long service of Cyryx College in nation’s development.

During the speech of the advisor to the Chairman Mr Ibrahim Waheed noted the milstones Cyryx College has attained in the private higher education including approving and conducting the first diploma in information technology course in the Maldives. Similarly, he noted that the challenges the higher education sector of the Maldives is facing and the need to have stringent regulations to augment the sector.

Master of Public Administration course was designed in consultation with leading public administrators and scholars in addition to aligning and benchmarking it with similar international programs. The program is fully accredited by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) as a level 9 qualification.

Cyryx College signs a MOU with Bank of Maldives

Cyryx College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bank of Maldives. The MOU was signed at a ceremony held at Bank of Maldives on 26t February 2018. Dean of Students Anil Adam signed on behalf of Cyryx College and Director of People and Change Ms Sahar Waheed signed on behalf of Bank of Maldives.

The MOU is  based on a theme titled “BML Prospect – Connecting Talent with Opportunity” which is an initiative of BML to support the local higher education institutes. Under this agreement, students studying above diploma level courses are entitled to apply for BML’s one year graduate internship program that provides the opportunity for students to gain training at any departments of the bank while earning a generous remuneration. Succesful students may also have the opportunity to accept a formal appointment at the bank.

The ceremony was attended by senior members from both organizations including Cyryx’s Vice Rector of Academic Development, Mr Mohamed Shareef, Vice Rector of Operations, Mr Jothi Stalin and Dean of Academic Affair Mr Ibrahim Shathir.

Cyryx Students Participate in the Economic Dailogue

Some of the selected undergraduate students of Cyryx College participated in the economic dialogue hosted at Dharubaaruge on 20th February 2018. The event was held with the Minister of Economic Development, Minister of Health and Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture and the students had the opportunity to ask questions related to the economic, social and current affairs of the Maldives.

The premise of the dialogue was to foster awareness of the students of the higher education institutes towards the economic transformations the incumbent Government is pursuing. During the event, the triad of ministers expounded how the current developmental plans will cultivate the sustainability of economic and social well being of the nation. The event was telecasted on the national television channel TVM.

Cyryx College holds Convocation 2018

Cyryx College held a grand convocation on 1st February 2018 at Dharubaaruge. Over 500 students graduated from certificate to masters level courses. The Chief Guest of the Ceremony was the Chancellor of Islamic University Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. The invitees to the event include state dignitaries, parliament members, corporate executives and parents of the graduates.

This years convocation awarded a novel award named “Cyryx Distinguished Alumni Award” which was introduced to recognize and praise the alumni of Cyryx College who accomplish outstanding educational achievements from leading international universities that would bring fame to Cyryx College. This year the said award was conferred to Shimhaz Ali Saeed, a remarkable Cyryx alumnus who won the Chancellor’s Award of Limkokwing University in Malaysia. Shimhaz won the first place in the computer networking course and also won the best all round position of the university in addition to getting distinctions in 13 modules.

In addition, various merit awards including Chairman’s Award for Top Achievement, Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Achievement were also presented to meritorious students of the respective programs. The most prestigious award of Cyryx College, Ogaru Faiza Ali Award for Excellence was attained by Hassan Waheed, who graduated with Distinction and highest GPA from Master of Business Administration course.

During the Ceremony, Chief Guest, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed praised the commitment of Cyryx College in serving the nation and producing over 23000 graduates who are valuable citizens contributing effectively to the nation’s development and urged the students to persevere to succeed in real life.

“The Leader within You” workshop by Mr. Fawaz Farook

Mr. Fawaz Farook, a leadership professional from Sri Lanka who has more than 25 years’ experience in corporate training and leadership development, conducted a session at Cyryx College on 3rd May 2016 (Tuesday). A number of Cyryx College staff attended the training session, whereby Mr. Fawaz elaborated on the various themes of leadership, including aspects of personality, attitudes and motivational dimensions of leadership and organizational effectiveness.

  

The session which lasted for one and a half hours is one of the many initiatives taken by Cyryx College towards staff development, and to build a leadership culture in the higher education sector.
