Cyryx College Student Association Executive Committee inauguration 2016

The inauguration ceremony for the newly elected Executive Committee of Cyryx College Student Association (CSA) was held today (26th April 2016) at the School of Multimedia, Arts, and Design (Galolhu campus). A number of students and lecturers attended the ceremony held from 3:30 pm until 4:15 pm.

   

The ceremony began with a speech presented by Rector Dr. Ahmed Shahid, as he emphasized the importance of upholding long term good relations between the college and the student body.  In his speech, Dr. Shahid further elaborated on the events planned for the CSA Committee by the college, in order to build the strong leaders that would represent the college and the society, as a whole.

A Certificate of Recognition for members of Cyryx Student and Alumni Association (CSAA) 2015, were awarded by the Rector to Saushad Zameer (President), Aminath Vinasha (Vice President), Abdulla Aus (General Secretary), Mohamed Nabeeh Nizar (Treasurer), Ali Zabeer (Director of Events Management) and Ahmed Ziyad (Director of Sports) of the CSAA.

               

Following the awarding, members elected for the CSA Executive Committee, 2016 signed the inauguration papers, which were handed over by the President of the Committee, Abdulla Aus, to Vice-Rector Mr. Jothi Stalin. Furthermore, Abdulla Aus shared his vision and expectations from the Cyryx Students Association, for the year ahead. The ceremony officially ended with a group photo, including the council members, and the members of CSAA and CSA.

      

Voting for the CSA Executive Committee election was held on the 14th of April 2016. The voting took place at the School of Multimedia, Arts and Design (Galolhu campus), which started at 5:00 pm in the evening and ended at 10:00 pm at night. A voting booth was prearranged at the reception area of the campus, where students came to cast their votes on ballot papers. Following the end time, votes were immediately counted in front of all candidates and results announced respectively.

Cyryx College wishes the Student Association Executive Committee of 2016 all the very best in their journey ahead as student leaders and wishes to see an engaging year ahead of us.

Cyryx Students Leave for a Research Tour

Final year students from Cyryx College, School of Business, has left for a study trip to Sri Lanka on the 7th of April 2016. The trip which would last 3 days, has been organized for the purpose of assisting these students with their research and studies. The study tour will also further enhance their knowledge in Management, Human Resources, and other important subject areas, through exposure to practice within various industries.

These students accompanied by two faculty members of Cyryx College are expected to visit tea plantation factories, garment factories, and some of the top universities in the country to gain a better perspective of these industries.

Cyryx College wishes these students all the best for the study trip and a safe journey.

CYRYX COLLEGE HOLDS TALKS WITH MICROSOFT (SRI LANKA)

Cyryx College has today met with a team from Microsoft (Sri Lanka) to explore areas of cooperation and collaboration in technology and software solutions. Chairman of Cyryx College Ahmed Shareef, Vice-Rector Ahmed Shahid and Dean Joythi Stalin met with Senior Partner Yashinka Jayasinghe Alles and Director- Channel Sales Imran Vilcassim of Microsoft to identify areas in which Cyryx College can seek technical support from Microsoft that would help enhance academic activities and strengthen the overall management of the college.

During the meeting, Chairman Ahmed Shareef highlighted that Cyryx College has been the premier trainer and education provider in information technology in the Maldives for over two decades and that adoption of new technology solutions would be paramount to maintain that position in the future. The members of the Microsoft team expressed their interest to partner with Cyryx College in a number of areas that would bring in new facilities and opportunities for both the students and staff of the college.

CYRYX COLLEGE COMMENCES A REFRESHER WORKSHOP FOR JOURNALISTS UNDER ITS CSR PROGRAM.

Cyryx College has today commenced a two-day refresher workshop for journalists under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. The workshop will cover key soft skills and knowledge areas that are essential for journalists to effectively carry out their work and increase their impact on the Maldivian society. Topics covered in the workshop include sociology and society, research skills, media, and human rights, as well as communication skills. The workshop sessions are facilitated by instructors from both Cyryx College and outside.

    

At the opening session of the workshop, Vice-Rector of Cyryx College, Ahmed Shahid highlighted the key role of media and journalists in shaping our society and its approaches to development and emphasized that the knowledge and skills gained by participants in this workshop will undoubtedly lead to a better appreciation of these dynamics. He also stressed that the main objective of Cyryx College in conducting this free training program for journalists is to make a social contribution that has the potential to deepen our understanding of the society and create the necessary conditions for positively re-orienting its future trajectory.

    

A total of 20 journalists are expected to complete the workshop.

CYRYX COLLEGE HELD’S ITS SECOND EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION NIGHT

Cyryx College held its second Employee Appreciation Night on 7 August 2015 as part of a monthly series launched last month. The event was marked by a good turnout, bringing the Cyryx College community to enjoy snacks and refreshments in the company of friends and colleagues.

 

June and July’s Employee of the Month awards were handed out by our Vice-Rector Mr. Ibrahim Waheed. Four faculty members and two student services team members were recognized for their outstanding performance and commitment to excellence: Mr. Subash K.R. from the School of Business, Ms. Aminath Javna from the School of IT, and Ms. Shaolene Kibir, Student Services Professional, were the recipients of the awards for June 2015.

      

 

Mr. Tubax Xavier from the School of IT, Mr. Jani Augustin from the School of Business, and Ms. Almina Belerma, Student Services Professional, received the awards for July 2015. The honored employees were each rewarded with a gift and a certificate of appreciation.

 

     

Noting that competition was tough for the awards Vice-Rector Ibrahim Waheed encouraged all faculty and staff members to continue their hard work and dedication to Cyryx College students and to always carry the student-centered approach that Cyryx College so strongly advocates.

   

CYRYX COLLEGE HOLDS INAUGURAL EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION NIGHT

Cyryx College recently held its inaugural Employee Appreciation Night on 12 June 2015. The celebratory event, which will be held every month, brought the Cyryx College community together in an informal collegial atmosphere to enjoy a dinner in the company of friends and colleagues.

The night was made livelier with the exciting announcement of the June 2015 Employee of the Month awards. Management surprised all staff by recognizing three employees for their outstanding effort and commitment to excellence: Mr. Ali Akbar, Ms. Mariyam Waseema, and Ms. Roshelle Orquiza. The honored employees were each rewarded with a gift and a certificate of appreciation.

While addressing the staff, Chairman Ahmed Shareef noted that the Employee of the Month program was established to recognize employees who consistently perform well beyond what their job description requires.

FORMER FISHERIES MINISTER SHAFEEU JOINS CYRYX TEAM

Former Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Hon. Ahmed Shafeeu has been appointed as the Executive Director, Institutional Development at Cyryx College from 27 January 2014.
Hon. Ahmed Shafeeu holds a Master of Education from Latrobe University, Australia. His previous employment includes holding top positions at the Ministry of Education including the post of Director-General, Policy Planning and Research. Hon. Shafeeu presently sits in various Government committees, councils, boards, and societies.
Hon. Shafeeu is also the Co-founder and principal Consultant of a registered mobile training and consultancy service, ‘Education and Training Consultants’ (ETC).
Cyryx College Dean, Mr. Ibrahim Waheed expressed to the Cyryx media, his aspiration in working with such a proficient and experienced personal, especially in the field of Education. Dean also enthusiastically welcomed the newest member to the already experienced and well-qualified team at Cyryx College.

Cyryx College Hosts a Session on Gender Discrimination for the Students

Cyryx College hosted a session on the topic “Gender Discrimination” for the students on 26th January 2014. The session was taken by Mrs.Aminath Shirani Naeem who is one of the leading facilitators on gender equality and women’s human rights issues in the Maldives. She is the Director of the Ministry of Health and Gender, and a member of the Executive Board of Hope for Women, an NGO working to address women’s rights in the Maldives.

Mrs.Aminath has over 10 years of experience in working with gender issues in the Maldives and has also worked closely with UNDP on community livelihood developmental projects. In the session, she stressed the issues women face in their social and work life and the importance of empowering women in society.

Cyryx Awards Partial Scholarships to Lucky Draw Winners

Cyryx College has awarded Partial Scholarships to four lucky draw winners from the students who applied for the Cyryx courses, at the University Education Fair 2013. The Ceremony was held on 24 August 2013 at Cyryx College.

The three lucky draw winners who received the 25% discount from the course fee for the Diploma Level were Mohamed Rishwan Ismail (A132389), Mohamed Niyaz (A294456) and Aminath Milha Ali (A 270830). The winner who got the 15% discount for the Degree level was Abdul Hameed Ahmed (A290181).

Winners were drawn by Aishath Yumna and vouchers were awarded to winners by the Deputy Dean Mr. Jothi Stalin accompanied by Dean Mr. Ibrahim Waheed.

Cyryx Staff to Hold Monthly Food Fiestas

The staff of Cyryx College has begun the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the College by holding a food fiesta. The fiesta was held at Cyryx College on the 24 August 2013.

Management plans to hold the ‘Monthly Food Fiesta’ between the Departments with a special theme each month, in the process of making work fun and strengthen the existing bond between the colleagues. As August is the first month of the food fiesta, the theme was ‘Bring your own’, in which staff brought different varieties of food which are creative and delicious.
