Cyryx College Chairman Mr. Ahmed Shareef receives the prestigious ‘Education Leadership Award’

The Chairman of Cyryx College, Mr. Ahmed Shareef has received the prestigious ‘Education Leadership Award’. The Award which consists of a Trophy and a Citation was presented at the 4th Asia’s Best B-School Awards ceremony held at PAN PACIFIC, Singapore on 31 July 2013.

The Award was presented by the World Education Congress, CMO Asia with CMO Council as its Strategic Partner and Stars of the Industry Group as a research partner.

Dean of the Cyryx College, Mr. Ibrahim Waheed who accompanied the Chairman, gave a speech on ‘Building Strategic Thinking for the Future of Education’. The ceremony was attended by professors and senior officials of various Colleges and Universities across Asia.

The Awards of the highest stature are presented to Individuals and Institutions who have surpassed several levels of its excellence and set an example of being a role model and exemplary leadership. Individuals behind the Institution who are building their Institutions through Leadership, Innovation, Academic and Industry Interface and a supreme objective of Building future leaders.

This is the first time a local college received this honor.

Cyryx participated in another successful fair at Youth Challenge 2014

Cyryx College participated at the Youth Challenge/Kissaru 2014fairorganized by the Ministry of Youth & Sports at the Youth Center Hall. The Fair was held on13th, 14th , and 15th of February 2013. The fair was inaugurated by the Honorary Guest Dr.Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, who is the Vice President of the Maldives. He was also accompanied by other notable people who included several ministers such as the Minister of Education, Dr.AishathShiham.

The Vice President also visited the Cyryx Stall and was impressed by how much CyryxCollege have grown from just an institution. Cyryx College was also covered extensively by the media and an exclusive interview was also done by Maldives Broadcasting Corporation Channel TVM (Television Maldives). Also the college would like to mention that this fair has been one of the most well organized and productive fairs that the college has joined so far. Cyryx College is really happy with the turn out from the public and is delighted with the number of visitors that came to the Cyryx stall.

Collaborations of INTI Laureate International University, Malaysia with Cyryx College

Chairman of the Cyryx College Mr. Ahmed Shareef has met with Mr. Moses Ling Wei, Senior Vice President and Ms. Chandra Mathy Veerappan, Director International Collaborations Unit of INTI Laureate International University, Malaysia.
Issues discussed were about the collaborations of the INTI and Cyryx, students and staff exchange programmes, and offering of their American Degree Programmes at Cyryx College. During the discussion Mr. Moses Ling Wei agreed to offer discounts for the students who will enrol INTI University Programmes after completion of the Cyryx Diploma programmes. They also agreed to allow first year exemption for their Degree programmes after reviewing all Diploma programmes offered by Cyryx College. They also discussed about permitting entry from Cyryx College undergraduate programmes to INTI University Postgraduate programmes.

Mr. Steven Toh, a Senior Lecturer of HELP University at Cyryx College

Senior Lecturer at HELP University, Malaysia, Mr. Steven Toh has arrived at Cyryx College to conduct revision classes for Degree students who are studying the course “Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) (Hons)” programme of HELP University. Mr. Toh is the Management Accounting lecturer at HELP University. Mr. Toh will conduct revision classes for 3 days starting from 29th November to 1st December 2012 at Cyryx College.
In his visit, Mr Toh will meet all the students doing the Business Degree programme and attend to their queries. He would also meet with the Chairman of the Cyryx College, Mr Ahmed Shareef and the senior management.
This would be a great opportunity for the students of Cyryx College to meet and interact with an experienced senior lecturer of HELP University.

Cyryx Chairmen Invites Mr. Sobir And Dr. Simic to Give Public Speeches about the Maldivian Tourism Industry

Chairman of Cyryx College, Mr. Ahmed Shareef has met with Mr. Hassan Sobir, Senior Lecturer who was a former Tourism Minister of the Maldives and Senior Lecture and Prof. Dr. Andelko Simic, Head of the Faculty of Business Economics & Accounting and School of Hospitality & Tourism of HELP University.
Long discussions were held about why tourism industry stakeholders are not giving much attention to investing people with concerns about foreigners controlling the Maldivian tourism industry. The challenging question was why Maldivians are not going for Tourism & Hospitality Training? Is there really a need for this industry?

Prof. Dr. Andelko Simic and Mr. Hassan Sobir expressed their intention to establish concrete cooperation with Cyryx College in relation to the two Bachelor programmes of their School: Hospitality Management and Tourism Management.
Mr. Sobir appreciated the Cyryx Chairmen’s visit to the School of Hospitality and Tourism at HELP University. He said that he was impressed by the achievements of Cyryx College in private Higher Education in the Maldives and looks forward to closer ties with Cyryx College for mutual benefit.
Mr. Shareef invited Prof. Dr. Andelko Simic and Mr. Hassan Sobir to the Maldives to give public speeches about all the questions arising regarding the Maldivian tourism industry training.

HELP University to Enhance the Partnership with Cyryx College

Cyryx College Chairmen, Mr. Ahmed Shareef has met with Mr. Stephen Wu Ghee Kean, HOD Department of Business and Director, Center for International programmes and Ms. AnithaVelayutham, Senior Lecturer School of IT of the HELP University, Malaysia.
During the meeting Mr. Shareef raised issues highlighted in the paper prepared by Cyryx Director, Academics Mr. Ibrahim Waheed. HELP officials agreed to improve and assist in most of the things highlighted by Cyryx College. They also informed that, they might send some lecturers for revision before the end of each semester, with agreement from Cyryx College to provide accommodation and transportation for their lectures during their stay in the Maldives.
Among the other matters agreed, HELP University offered to give training to Cyryx administrative staff about their programmes and to select some of Cyryx lectures whom they could make as HELP licensed lectures. Further discussions were held about the lectures and students exchange programmes.

Taylor’s University to Recognize Cyryx College Undergrad Programmes

A meeting was held between Mr Ahmed Shareef, Chairman of the Cyryx College with Ms Janice Yen Yoke Ping, Registrar and University Services; Mr Tee Wee Jing, Programmes Director RMIT Degree Programmes School of Computing and IT, and Ms Banumathy Devi, Dean School of Computing, of Taylor’s University Malaysia.

Discussions were held regarding allowing entry from Cyryx Undergraduate programme to Taylor’s Postgraduate programmes. Ms Janice Yen Yoke Ping discussed Collaboration of three schools, including Cyryx School of Business, Cyryx School of Multimedia Arts and Design and Cyryx School of Information Technology with the respective Schools in Taylor’s University. During the meeting, Taylor’s officials agreed to finalize the Diploma exemption modules after reviewing the Cyryx Diploma Programmes.

INAUGURATION OF CYRYX STUDENTS & ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (CSAA)

Inauguration ceremony of Cyryx Students and Alumni Association (CSAA) was held on 17th July 2012 at Hiriya School Hall at 2030hrs along with a “Maahefun”.
All the students of Cyryx College were invited and many students turned up to celebrate the event. “Boduberu” and other activities also took place after the ceremony.
Chairman Mr. Ahmed Shareef and the Director-Academics Mr. Ibrahim Waheed gave few words on the subject of the ceremony.

The Certificates of appointment were given to all the CSAA’s 10 posts. And also a certificate was given to the student who submitted the best logo for CSAA.
Certificate of appreciation and certificate of membership for students who participated in other activities of the college were also given in this function.
Voting for the CSAA elections was held on 12th July 2012. It started at 11:00 o’clock in the morning and ended at 11:00 PM at night. From 3 campuses altogether 786 students voted. The ballot box was taken to each class by Cyryx staffs and each and every student got to vote during their class time.

Cyryx Netball Tournament 2012

Cyryx Netball Tournament 2012 started on 13th July 2012. This was the first such tournament held in Cyryx College and it was a great success. We hope to continue to build upon this success with next year’s tournament, continuing to inspire more young netballers to continue playing the game.
Total 6 teams from 3 campuses of Cyryx College participated. The game was played in the Outdoor Netball Court (at Youth Centre).
The final match of the tournament was played on 14th July 2012 at 8:00 PM. Staffs and students attended to support their respective teams/campuses. After a tuff game, the “Sparkles” team won after defeating “Habeys” team. The Chairman Mr. Ahmed Shareef and the Director- Academics Mr. Ibrahim Waheed awarded the trophies and certificates for the teams who won different places in the tournament.

Cyryx College would like to take the opportunity to thank, Netball Association for their continuous support with this event. Thanks also go to the organizing committee who has supported the event throughout.

Cyryx Students and Alumni Association (CSAA) Interim Committee Formed

An interim committee has been appointed to create the Cyryx Students and Alumni Association (CSAA). A ceremony was held on 21 June 2012 at the Conference Hall of Cyryx College to officially assign the responsibilities to the interim committee members.
Apart from the designated members of the interim committee, the ceremony was attended by the Cyryx Chairmen Mr. Ahmed Shareef, Director Academics Mr. Ibrahim Waheed, and the marketing team of the College.
The interim committee was chosen among a group of students who volunteered to be part in forming the CSAA, making all the necessary arrangements and to run the election.
The Key responsibilities of the interim committee include conducting a fair and free election in order to form the executive and non-executive CSAA committee for a period of 1 year, to draft all the policies, rules and regulations as well as to finalize a logo.
The CSAA represents the current students and alumni of Cyryx College. The objectives of the association are as follows. To advance the education of its membership and students as a whole, to represent the interests of its members and act as a channel of communication in dealings with the College and other bodies, to protect and represent the welfare of its membership, to promote, encourage and support members of societies and social and cultural activities, to run the Students Association for the benefit of the members of the association, also the association shall practice the above aims and objectives independently of any school, course, batch, faction, political party or other group.
Executive Members of the interim committee are as follows. President, Ibrahim Shimaau (MA-16), Vice President, Ali Shaheem (MA-16), Secretary, Aminath Nafha Gadheer (CIII-HRM 1), Treasurer, Ali Fahumy (MA-16) and Designate from Alumni, Mariyam Nafha Rasheed (MAIII-68).
Six Non-Executive Members of the Interim committee are Hussain Hamdhaan (B-67),Aminath Raufa (MAIII-76), Jazlaan Amjad (MA-16), Thoriq Jalaal (MA-16), Naajila Mohamed (MAIII- 68), and Maha Afeef (MA-17).
