CYRYX COLLEGE HOLDS eTEACHING

On Tuesday, 23rd June 2020 at 8:30pm, Cyryx College’s held an Online session of the online program – Certificate in eTeaching. During this introductory session, all the lecturers met with all the students Online and had discussions on the content that will be delivered as well as the expectations of the students. The first session was held last night, 25th June 2020 at 08:30pm.

       

The three weeks’ sessions will cover topics ranging from eLearning Theory, Community of Practice, Connectivism, Instructional Design, ASSURE model, Backward Design Model, Gagne’s Events of Instruction, eTeaching Tools and Environments, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom, MOODLE and Screen capture.

The programs are facilitated by Dr. Fathimath Thaufeega (eLearning Theories and Readiness), Dr. Mahmood Shougee (Curriculum and Pedagogy), Dr. Fawaz Shareef
(eLearning Design and Technology) and Mr. Ibrahim Waheed (Educational Technology)

BACHELORS OF BUSINESS (FINANCE) STUDENTS OF CYRYX COLLEGE VISITS MALDIVES STOCK EXCHANGE.

Bachelors of Business (Finance) students of Cyryx College visited Maldives Stock Exchange last Thursday, 24th October 2019 to enhance their knowledge of their current studying module, Investment Analysis, and Portfolio Management. The students were accompanied by the lecturer of Cyryx College Mr. Syed Ali Khan. Head of operations of Maldives Stock Exchange, Mr. Mujuthaba Moosa expounded the operational tasks carried out in Maldives Stock Exchange along with demonstration. Students were able to get a brief understanding of the technical analysis on buy and sell shares online, the primary and secondary capital markets available in the Maldivian, the cost of a share in different companies, duties, and responsibilities of the Maldives Stock Exchange and guidance is given to the customers. The 2 hours 30 min session was summed up with a Question and Answer from the students.

     

     

Maldives Stock Exchange was incorporated as a private-sector exchange, to establish a market mechanism for trading and settlement of securities in the Maldives, as well as to provide a regulatory framework to standardize and monitor persons dealing in securities on the Stock Exchange.

CYRYX COLLEGE ENHANCING THE PARTNERSHIP WITH HELP UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA.

Cyryx Rector Dr Ali Fawaz Shareef met with Mr Stephen Wu Ghee Kean, (Vice President and Dean of Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting), Dr Cheah Sin Chye (Head of Department for Business) and Mr Tan Kheng Por (Senior Manager, Centre for International Programmes) from the HELP University. The meeting was held on 1st September 2019 at HELP University, Malaysia.

   

The focus of the discussion is to open for new batches of HELP University Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Human Resources Management. In addition, discussions were made to explore other collaboration opportunities including credit transfer and dual offerings. HELP University is committed to strengthening its partnership with Cyryx by agreeing to offer Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes through this partnership arrangement.

CYRYX COLLEGE LAUNCHES BACHELORS OF PSHYCOLOGY PROGRAM

Cyryx College held the launching ceremony of Bachelors of Psychology program at Cyryx Galolhu campus on 25th September 2019. The event was inaugurated by the CEO of Society for Health Education (SHE) and former State Minister for Education Mr. Ahmed Shafeeu. Cyryx College Council members, government officials and members of NGOs attended the ceremony.

      

During the launching ceremony, Mr. Shafeeu emphasized the need for a degree program in the field of psychology in the Maldives. During his speech, Mr. Shafeeu stated the importance of a mentally healthier society and for the Maldivians to focus on preventive health rather than curative health.

Rector of Cyryx College Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef also highlighted the importance of a psychology program in the Maldives.  He also stated that the Bachelor of Psychology program is a stepping stone towards a career in professional psychology and Cyryx College is currently in the process of developing a Master’s degree in the field of psychology. Cyryx College has been offering qualifications up to Diploma in the field psychology since 2015.

      

The degree program is designed with an exit point after each year of study; Diploma in Psychology after completing the first year; Associate Degree in Psychology after completing the second year; and Bachelor of Psychology after the full three years of study. Applications are now open and only 20 seats have been announced this time round 20 slots. Applications close on 13th October 2019 and seats will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.

      

Cyryx College Bachelor of Psychology provides students with the key knowledge and competencies required to expedite careers is a wide variety of areas. The program will enable the students to learn about the science of human behavior, counseling, research, and expose the students to all areas of psychology. The program is fully accredited by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) as a level 7 qualification and approved by the Maldives Allied Health Council. It is also benchmarked against similar international programs.

  

CYRYX COLLEGE RECTOR VISITS UCSI UNIVERSITY, MALAYSIA.

Cyryx College Rector Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef met with UCSI University’s Senior Vice President for Global Engagement Mr. Willie Tan Moh Leong to foster a collaboration partnership with Cyryx College and UCSI University. It was a productive discussion on how Cyryx College and UCSI University can collaborate to offer diverse opportunities to the Maldivian students and researchers.

A further discussion was held between the founder and chief executive officer of UCSI Group, Mr. Dato’ Peter T.S Ng and Cyryx College Rector Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef was also held to explore collaboration avenues between UCSI Group and Cyryx Group.

UCSI Group is a conglomerate that operates in education, consultancy, healthcare, hotels, property, and technology. Identical to Cyryx College history, UCSI Group began as a computer training institute in 1986 later on the brand swiftly attained national recognition for its commitment to excellence and steady the institute status elevated as a full-fledged university in 2008.

Cyryx College has been establishing partnerships with many leading universities abroad to deliver excellent services to Cyryx Students and the community.

Cyryx College beat Clique College to secure their ticket to the finals of the MNUSU Futsal Fiesta 2019.

Team Cyryx Men’s division beat Clique College to secure their ticket to the finals of the MNUSU Futsal Fiesta 2019 on Thursday, 26th September 2019. The intense match ended with a 2-2 draw and was decided with a penalty shootout. Clique college was leading with a score of 2 – 1 in the second half when Ahmed Makhdoom (J 06) scored his second goal in the 31st minute of the game and gave hope for the team Cyryx.

Cyryx College secured their spot in the finals by winning the penalty shootout with a score of 5-4. The man of the match was awarded to Cyryx College goalkeeper of Cyryx College Hassan Naseer (J 01).

Special guests of the match were the Chairman of Cyryx College Mr. Ahmed Shareef, Rector of Cyryx College Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef, Vice-Rector of Cyryx College Mr. Abdullah Nazeem Ibrahim and Clique College’s dean, Mariyam Shifna.

CYRYX COLLEGE MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TEAMS ADVANCES TO SEMI-FINALS IN THE MNSU FUTSAL FIESTA 2019.

Cyryx College Men’s team have advanced to semi-finals with zero losses in the MNUSU Futsal Fiesta 2019. In the quarter-finals held last Friday (20th September 2019), Cyryx college won over 2018 MNUSU futsal fiesta champion MAPS college with a score of 3 – 0. The man of the match was awarded to Cyryx’s Ali Naushad (J 14) with one scored while Ahmed Makhdhoom (J 06) and Mohamed Amjadh (J 12) scored once each.

In the quarter-finals Women’s division match, Cyryx College defeated MNUBS with a score of 2 – 0. Queen of the match was awarded to Cyryx’s Mariaym Wafa (J 05).

MNUSU Futsal Feaster 2019 Semi-finals are scheduled for Thursday, 26th September 2019 at Maafannu Stadium. Cyryx College men’s team will be playing against Clique College at 20:00 and the woman’s team will be playing against MNU Facility of Education 22:00.

CYRYX COLLEGE MEN’S TEAM WON THEIR FIRST MATCH IN THE MNUSU FUTSAL FIESTA 2019

Cyryx College Men’s team secured a strong win over MNU’s Faculty of Arts by 12-2 points last night, 13th September 2019 in MNSU Futsal Fiesta. Hassan Naseer (J 01) scored one goal while Ahmed Maldhooh (J 06), Ahmed Shaaneez (J 08), Ismail Mamdhooh (J 11) and Ali Naushadh (J 14) each scored two goals. Mohamed Amjad (J 12) scored three. Ismail Mamdhoh (J 11) was awarded the man of the match. It’s a big achievement for teamCyryx at the beginning of the tournament.
Cyryx will be playing against the MNU’s Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies. The match is scheduled today, 14th September 2019. Cyryx College’s team is exclusively sponsored by Owl White Coffee.

CYRYX COLLEGE WOMAN’S TEAM WON THEIR FIRST MATCH IN THE MNUSU FUTSAL FIESTA 2019

Cyryx College women’s team won their first match in the MNSU Futsal Fiesta last Thursday, 12th September 2019 against MNU Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies by 4-2 points. 3 goals were scored by Aminath Wafa and 1 goal by Aminath Rudhaina.
Cryx College men’s team will be playing their first match today, 13th September 2019 against MNU Faculty of Arts Studies. This year’s MNUSU Futsal Fiesta is participated by 12 Women’s Division teams and 15 men’s Division teams; Cyryx College, MAPS College, AVID College, Villa College, Maldives Business School, Clique College, MI College, Polytechnic, MNU Business School, MNU Center for Foundation Studies, MNU Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies, MNU Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology, MNU Faculty of Education, MNU Faculty of Arts, MNU Faculty of Health Sciences, MNU Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies and MNU School of Nursing.

Thammasat university delegation visits Cyryx College

A senior delegation of Thammasat University, Thailand, visited Cyryx College on 11th July 2018. The delegation was led by  Prof. Dr. Somnuk Tangtermsirikul, Director of Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University and accompanied by other delegates from SIIT. The delegation was welcomed by Chairman of Cyryx College, Mr Ahmed Shareef, Vice-Rector, Academic Development, Mr Mohamed Shareef, Vice-Rector, Operations, Mr Jothi Stalin and respective deans of the schools at Cyryx College.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A fruitful discussion was held between both institutes to extend academic collaborations including student exchange, recognition of academic programs and credit transfer between both institutes.
